In South Korea, presented gifts to centenarians
Representatives of the Ministry of Health of South Korea presented gifts to citizens of the country whose age this year exceeded 100 years. It is reported by KBS. According to published data, gifts were awarded to 1762 centenarians on the eve of the Day of the Elderly, which is celebrated in the country on October 2. As a gift, they were awarded the traditional canes of Chonryozhang, symbolizing longevity, as well as greeting cards from the presidential couple. It is known that a similar ceremony of presenting gifts by representatives of the ministry has been held since 1993. As of August of this year, 21,411 people over 100 years of age lived in the country, of which 5,203 were men and 16,208 were women.
