In Brazil, opened the statue of Christ the Redeemer and Tijuca Park for tourists
The statue of Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro and the Tijuca National Park were opened to visitors by the Brazilian authorities. This was announced on August 16 by the Minister of the Environment of the country Ricardo Salis on his Twitter. Tijuk Park and the statue of Christ the Redeemer were reopened after a forced break caused by the threat of the spread of coronavirus. Tourists were obliged to observe a safe distance when visiting and must wear protective masks. At the same time, according to the Brazilian publication Estado de Minas, officials attending the opening ceremony of Tijuca Park did not comply with the restrictions imposed. It is noted that simultaneously with the opening of the statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil, such popular places as the cable car on Sugar Head Mountain, the Rio Star Ferris wheel and several others became available to tourists. By the end of the year, residents of Rio de Janeiro were given discounts on visiting popular tourist destinations. Earlier, the news agency reported that more than 50 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Brazil per day. To date, 3,275,520 cases of infection have been recorded in the country, of which 106,523 patients have died.
