Russia called for refusal to interfere in the internal affairs of Hong Kong
Genady Gatilov, Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN Office and other international organizations, called for not interfering in China's internal affairs. On July 1, he announced this at the 44th session of the UN Human Rights Council. The diplomat was referring to the adoption of a law on national security in relation to Hong Kong. According to Gatilov, the adoption of these laws is an internal matter of the PRC. Russia supports the approach of one country in two systems, considers the situation in Hong Kong as a purely internal matter of China and calls for refusing to interfere in it, including under far-fetched human rights pretexts, the Russian representative emphasized. Gatilov also regretted the sounding politicized statements by a number of countries regarding Beijing. Recall that earlier on June 30, the representative of Great Britain, speaking on behalf of 27, mainly members of the European Union, called on China to repeal the law on ensuring national security in Hong Kong.
