332 medical institutions in Ukraine were on the verge of closure


Currently, in Ukraine, 332 medical institutions are on the verge of existence, since they have a state funding deficit of more than 50%. This was stated at a briefing on July 10 by the Minister of Health of the country Maxim Stepanov, the correspondent of the news agency reports. The Minister noted that hospitals of various profiles in different regions of the country were on the verge of closure: these are district hospitals and psychiatric hospitals, these are hospitals that treat tuberculosis, infectious hospitals (about 15), and children's hospitals. According to him, this state of affairs is a consequence of the second stage of medical reform, which started in Ukraine this year. He called on the National Health Service to expedite the process of concluding contracts with medical institutions, which should be additionally financed. the news agency recalls that a large-scale medical reform was introduced in Ukraine by the Groysman government under the presidency of Petro Poroshenko. The document assumed that the second stage of the reform would enter into force on April 1, 2020. After much hesitation and numerous statements, the current government decided to keep the reform in force as a whole, only pointedly revising some of its provisions. The second stage of the reform includes, in particular, a change in the funding scheme for medical institutions.
