12 DPRK citizens fled to South Korea in the second quarter - KBS
In the second quarter of 2020, 12 DPRK citizens fled to South Korea. It is reported by KBS with reference to representatives of the Ministry of Unification of South Korea. According to them, seven people arrived in South Korea in April, two people in May, three more people in June. It is known that this is the lowest quarterly indicator since 2003. In the second quarter of 2019, 320 DPRK citizens fled to the country, 135 people in the first quarter of this year. Experts note that the decrease in the indicator is associated with the pandemic of coronavirus and the closure of the borders between North Korea and China. According to the news agency, from March to May 2020, not a single DPRK citizen fled to the United States.
