Japan recorded an increase in unemployment in March
The unemployment rate in Japan reached 2.5% for March 2020, according to the report of the Japanese Ministry of the Interior, NHK reported. The unemployment rate is said to have risen by just 0.1%. In particular, the number of unemployed increased by 20,000 compared to the same period in 2019. At the same time, the number of employed by 130,000 people also increased. However, the increase in unemployment is attributed by the Japanese authorities to the new type of coronavirus pandemic and its consequences for the world economy. In particular, it is alleged that the number of employees in the production sector, hotel and restaurant business has decreased, but the number of employees in the fields of health care, sales and social services has increased.
